Logo design for business New Shell.

New Shell is a natural hair care brand specialising in handmade products, founded and run by one woman using her lived experience to help customers – by dedicating products to those suffering from scalp conditions and hair loss. 

the brief

New Shell enlisted us to create a contemporary brand identity for their range, representing their natural ethos, for use across packaging and as promotional marketing material. 

the solution

After thorough competitor research, we decided to give the brand a clean presentation to complement its organic beginnings. Our final palette consisted of greens, pastel yellow and fluorescent white to signify purity and nature. Our logo mark consisted of delicate and linear outlines, loosely  mimicking shell structures – corresponding with the brand name. To keep it  contemporary, we coupled our logomark with a modern sans serif font. Due to  the brand’s very personal aspects, and the owners own haircare struggles, we  wanted the brand identity to appear welcoming and genuine – whilst maintaining its professionality.  

Our logomark was distinct enough to have duality, working both with the  typeface and as a submark on its own. Our submark usage spanned from stickers for packaging to social media channels and online promotion. The overall outcome saw a brand identity that maintained its delicacy and humble  ethos, without being overly feminine or excluding demographics – targeting an  audience whose primary goal is healthy hair management.

I had no idea what I was doing when it came to logo design and social media branding for my business, but XiXi Creative made everything easy.
